I’ve finished editing and designing Kevin Cadwallender’s new chapbook – Dog Latin – and it will go to the printer later today. I’m delighted to publish Kevin’s work; he’s a marvellously talented poet, and those who were at StAnza 2009 will know what an entertaining and engaging reader he is. Also at the printer just now is Gerry Urwin’s pamphlet of humorous verse. Gerry’s probably not as well known outside his East Lothian home as he ought to be, and I hope this book will help to change that. He, like Kevin, is originally from the Northeast of England.
Tomorrow I’m off to Elgin for Moray’s book festival – Get Moray Reading. I’m doing three poetry workshops; one for adults on the theme ‘No Place Like Home’, one at Buckie High School on ‘Away from Home’, and a third for children 8-11 on ‘Poems About Art’. I’m Moray Libraries’ Poet Partner, a project administered by the Scottish Poetry Library and funded by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation. My final sessions of the two-year partnership will be with Cullen Primary School, and a mental health group in Moray.
