I received my invitation today to the Callum Macdonald Memorial Awards ceremony at the National Library of Scotland. It’s Scotland’s premier award for poetry pamphlet publishing, inaugurated and championed by Tessa Ransford in memory of her late husband, publisher Callum Macdonald. This is the 8th annual award, sponsored and supported by the NLS, who, to their great credit, recognise the position and contribution of poetry pamphlets in our national life.
At the moment I think all Scottish poetry publishers are waiting with great eagerness to hear who has been shortlisted, and I’m not sure when we’ll be told, but the awards will be made on 7th May, so it’s not too long to wait.
One of bit of good news I did hear today is that a novelist friend has at last found an agent.
And the other news is that StAnza’s new Afterwords page, featuring highlights of the 2008 Festival, was launched today.
