I had a lovely morning at Gorebridge Library today, helping to celebrate the publication of a super wee book of children’s stories and poems. It’s called Story Pie: well-cooked stories by half-baked mums, and it was put together by a small group of storytellers and adult learners from Midlothian. The stories are ideal for reading to young children, and they are illustrated by the authors, some using photos of the bairns themselves. I loved Shug the Slug and Terrance the Traffic Island in particular. Design was by Midlothian Council’s Graphics Studio (and the design is brilliant, Scott), and the authors were involved in all stages of the book’s production, from initial ideas through to final proof-reading.
